Comparative research on the effectiveness of hospitalization in psychiatry by comparing administrative databases
SOURCE OF FUNDING: European Commission – FP7 and own sources
PERIOD: 2013 – 2016
PARTNERS: Consortium of seven partners from six European countries (Finland, Austria, Romania, Norway, Italy, Slovenia) under the coordination of the National Institute for Health and Welfare of Finland.
The project aims to link datasets recorded in large electronic health care databases from six European countries with different health care systems to explore the relationship between a wide range of factors (at patient and health service system level) and readmission of psychiatric patients discharged from hospital, and to compare results on different patterns of service use. From the perspective of health care users and providers, cost-effectiveness issues and the results of systematic literature reviews will be integrated with the results of studies conducted for the purpose of developing guidelines, recommendations and decision support tools for decision makers in the field of mental health systems and intervention services.
