Hospital Management for Directors of Care and Chief Nurses (AMD43)
Target group
Nurses who have passed the main degree examination or have completed higher education with a diploma/license in the medical field.
General objectives
1. Training of health care management professionals at a competitive level in the European Union;
2. Development of specialists able to generate relevant solutions in line with the changes and instability of the hospital reforms;
3. Replacing the theoretical perspective specific to classical university education with a pragmatic approach, one that emphasises personal contributions equally with the amount of information to be assimilated;
4. Create an institutional framework for postgraduate training that provides the prerequisites for continuous training in line with new policies in this field;
5. Acquiring the knowledge necessary for both professional and personal development.
Specific objectives
At the end of the programme the learner will have to:
1. To acquire basic concepts and notions in hospital management, in order to enable senior nurses and care managers to carry out efficient administrative activities.
2. Developing analytical and individual study skills for further training in health management
3. Learning the basics of the quality management system and quality documents at hospital level
4. Practical application of theoretical concepts to hospital document management, quality assessment of hospital services
5. Making health service delivery more efficient
6. Knowledge of the functions, principles and specific aspects of health service management
7. Identify priorities and establish criteria for prioritising them.
Skills
1. Training and development of managerial competences and skills, complementary to the initial medical training of nurses/midwives, in order to improve cost-effectiveness and efficiency of health services.
2. To familiarise nurses/midwives with elements of conceptual grounding, perspective in the management of new and problem situations that hospitals may face;
3. Use of quality indicators to analyse the structure, processes and outcomes of activities carried out by health care providers (as institutions)
4. Know how to select staff according to current organisational needs, regularly evaluate staff for organisational development purposes
5. Improve vertical and horizontal communication and develop teamwork skills within the organisation.
